Figure Skating Policies and Procedures Session Information

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL FREESTYLE SESSIONS ARE DETERMINED BY U.S. FIGURE SKATING STANDARD FREESKATE TEST PASSED (UNLESS STATED BELOW)

BALLET CLASS 1 & 2: (Ballet) A class designed for figure skaters of all levels. The instructor will start to advance ballet 1 skills and work towards a level II syllabus. Classes are held in the Ballet Room.
Skaters must have ballet slippers. Mandatory ballet or skating attire only. Girls hair must be tied back, bun recommended. Class will emphasize more complex combinations, and coordination, musicality, stretch and strength, extensions and control along with further developing standard basic ballet positions and will be structured to assist figure skaters with correctness of posture, balance and head-arm positions. Classes taught by Jaclyn Levine.

OPEN SPEEDSKATING SESSION: (OPEN SPEED SKATING SESSION) GEAR Required:
Ice speed skates, helmet (hockey, bike, inline and skateboarding acceptable), gloves and skating gear/apparel that has long sleeves and long pants so that there is no exposed skin.
Recommended: Neck guard, eye protection , knee, shin and elbow pads.
1. Skating direction is counter-clockwise.
2. Skaters should skate under control at all times. Keep a safe speed taking into consideration ice conditions, padding and crowd.
3. Faster skaters shall overtake slower skaters on the OUTSIDE.
4. Slower skaters, skaters resting shall skate on the INSIDE of the track.
5. Skaters shall only rest in the middle of the center ice face-off circle. No resting permitted on outside boards.
6. Skaters shall minimize crossing the track to enter and exit the ice surface and will wait until track is safe.
7. Skaters must follow all directions by rink staff, including but not limited to, stopping for instruction, races, rest breaks or to allow a fellow skater to recover from a fall.
8. Pads may or may not be provided in specific areas of the track. Skaters shall adjust their speed accordingly to remain safe for conditions.
9. All ice surface access doors must remain closed at all times during the session.

Speed Skating is intended as a track sport and not a physical contact sport. Any intentionally aggressive behavior on the ice may result in lost ice privileges without refund. The Ice Den Chandler reserves the right to revoke participation and registration privileges for any future Ice Den programs as the result of unacceptable conduct.

PRELIMINARY-SR FREESKATE: (Preliminary -Senior Freeskate) Skaters who have passed Preliminary Freeskate and above. Adult skaters who have passed Adult Silver Freeskate test or higher. Dancers who have passed all the Bronze dances and above.
Teams:Qualifications for freestyle sessions are based on pair or free dance level passed by at least one member of the team.
Ice Den Chandler Directors reserve the right to place skaters in appropriate levels regardless of their test record.

Skaters must have ballet slippers. Mandatory ballet or skating attire only. Girls hair must be tied back, bun recommended. Class will emphasize more complex combinations, and coordination, musicality, stretch and strength, extensions and control along with further developing standard basic ballet positions and will be structured to assist figure skaters with correctness of posture, balance and head-arm positions. Classes taught by Jaclyn Levine.Skaters must wear a face covering for this class.

EXTREME STRETCH: (Extreme Stretch) A class designed for figure skaters of all levels. Taught by Jaclyn Levine. This class will focus on stretching and flexibility for figure skaters. Stretches and core work will be the focus of the class, working towards the positions needed for skating (ex. Biellmann, Sasha, spirals, lay backs etc.) A yoga mat is mandatory- please! Classes held in the Ice Den's Party room.Skaters must wear a face covering for this class.

ICE CAFE-ADULTS ONLY: (ICE CAFE-ADULTS ONLY) This is an adult-only social skating program offered exclusively for skaters 18 years and older. Ice Cafe is open to beginner and recreational skaters or those wanting to brush up on their current skills.

OFF-ICE JUMPS 1 & 2: (OFF-ICE JUMPS 1 & 2) For all skaters working on single jumps, axel through double jumps. Classes held in the Ice Den's Party room. Skating or exercise attire only. Training shoes (sneakers, running shoes) are mandatory. Classes will focus on jumping techniques, rotation and landing positions. Taught by Ice Den PSA Rated coaches.Skaters must wear a face covering for this class.

OPEN DANCE SESSION: (OPEN DANCE SESSION) FOR ALL SKATERS WORKING ON SOLO DANCES AND DANCE TESTS.

SYNCHRO SKILLS CLASS: (SYNCHRO SKILLS CLASS) This 60 minute class is designed for all synchronized skating team members and for skaters wishing to learn synchro skills.
Skills will be presented by Ice Den Synchro and Guest synchro coaches.

ASU FREESTYLE SESSION: (ASU FREESTYLE SESSION) THIS SESSION IS DESIGNATED FOR THE ARIZONA STATE COMPETITIVE FIGURE SKATING TEAM ONLY.

KIKI OWEN'S FS: (KIKI OWEN'S FREESTYLE) These sessions are designated to college figure skaters by invite only from Kiki Owens.

SPECIALTY CLASS 4:30-5:00: (SPECIALTY CLASS 4:30-5:00 PM) For all skaters passed Basic Skills Level 6 and above. Taught by Ice Den PSA Rated coaches.

SYNCHRO CLINIC- OPEN JUV-: (SYNCHRO CLINIC- OPEN JUV-INTERM) These classes are for skaters that are hoping to be on our competitive sectional bound Open Juvenile and Intermediate teams next season. These classes will focus on skills, edge work, planned program elements, choreography, and components. These clinics are essential to maintain and refine synchro skills for current and interested team members as we develop teams for next season. Those who participate will find the clinics helpful in preparing for tryouts which will happen in the spring as well as in learning new choreography and skills needed for a successful sectional debut. All skaters must be working on pre-juvenile moves and up or have permission from synchro coaching team. Masks and gloves are required.

SYNCHRO CLINICS: (SYNCHRO CLINICS) These classes are for all skaters interested in synchro either competitively or for recreational. All previous members and new members are encouraged to join. These classes will focus on musicality, guiding, formations, choreography, and will be a lot of fun. All skaters must be basic 5 and up. We will split groups according to levels. All participants must have their own skates. Masks and gloves are required.

DRY-LAND TRAINING : (Dry-land Training and Injury Prevention ) Dry-land training and Injury Prevention
This class Teaches skaters off ice warm up techniques including dynamic stretches to prepare for optimum practice, off ice jumps and spin techniques to improve their on ice experience and give them skills to practice off ice such as dry land spinner technique and jump exercises. This class will incorporate core development, strength training, conditioning, agility, and a Bronson electric spinner to develop vestibular training and balance. All of these skills combined help prevent injuries and teach a healthy off ice training program to enhance skaters on ice development.
